Ukraine: most growers of root crops are not able to sell their produce even for the minimal prices
According to information provided by the specialists of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal, the question of the produce stocks sales is urgent now for many national growers of table beet and carrot. The market players inform that the oversupply of root crops is observed in Ukraine; so there is almost no opportunity to sell produce for the affordable prices. The wholesale prices for table beet are fluctuating now $0.1-0.14/kg, for carrot $0.11-0.15/kg. However, many producers are not able to sell their produce even for such a low price because of the poor demand.
Those producers often make concessions to the buyers who prefer selling out the remaining stocks of table beet. In some cases they reduce the sales prices down to $0.03-0.09/kg.
At the same time, the carrot producers prefer delaying sales and keeping the produce in the storages if they have large shipments of the high quality products available. These farmers intend selling the produce for more affordable prices later on.
