The limited volumes of cucumber supplies resulted in another price growth on market
The price growth for cucumber is observed on market, "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal informs. The produce of the national greenhouse complexes makes the most part of the supplies on market. Past week the market was saturated with the relatively cheap low-quality imported cucumber; this fact stimulated the sales prices for greenhouse cucumber to decline.
However, in the beginning of this week a quite opposite situation was observed on the markets of the central and southern regions. Time gaps between the supplies of Turkish cucumber preconditioned the increased activeness of the wholesale companies which purchased national greenhouse cucumbers. As a consequence, the greenhouse complexes have noticeably increased the sales prices. As of today, the greenhouse cucumber is sold for up to $3.8-4.4/kg on the wholesale markets of the southern and central regions. This price is almost twice as high comparing to the price level recorded past week. The single supplies of the imported cucumbers were recorded.
The situation is stable on the East and West of Ukraine. Both imported and national cucumbers are sold on market; the price range remains relatively low. The wholesale prices for the imported cucumber are about $2.2-2.6/kg; the prices for the greenhouse cucumber are kept within the limits of $2.8-3.4/kg. The active sales are recorded only in the segment of the national produce; the demand for the imported cucumber is often low because of the low quality of this produce.
