The demand for mushrooms has grown in the beginning of the Lent

The specialists of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal point out the considerable changes which have taken place on the mushroom market since the beginning of this week. According to the earlier forecast, the demand for mushrooms has started to grow since the beginning of the Lent. The prices were reconsidered upwards as a result. The market players say that the demand increased both for the champignons and for oyster mushroom; moreover, this situation has been recorded practically on all wholesale markets.

According to information of the representatives of the wholesale markets, the prices for mushrooms have increased on average 6-9% (oyster mushroom) and 7-14% (champignon) during the past weekend.

Also, it is worth mentioning that both national and imported champignons are present on market now; the champignons of Polish origin are the serious competitors for the national mushroom. As a result, the specialists forecast that the further price situation for mushrooms in Ukraine, for champignons in particular, will directly depend on the volumes of the product supplied to the country.
