The trend of price decrease for cucumber is observed in Ukraine

According to information provided by the specialists of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal in Ukraine, the trend of the price decrease for greenhouse cucumbers has been traced since the beginning of this week. The specialists explain this circumstance by the increased volumes of cucumber production in the greenhouse complexes. One more factor influences the price decrease: medium quality cucumber is present on market. This type of cucumber is characterized by a rather short shelf-life period.

At the present moment the prices for the national cucumber have declined down to $2.6-2.8/kg in the western oblasts, and down to $2.8-3.2/kg in the central and southern oblasts. It is worth mentioning that the prices for the national cucumber were up to $4.2-4.6/kg in the central and southern oblasts in the end of the previous week.

Also the specialists point out that Turkish cucumber is predominantly supplied for sale in the western part of the country. In view of the competition the prices for this type of produce are gradually decreasing: at the present moment the vendors set the prices up to $2-2.6/kg.
