Russia: cabbage prices continue growing due to a high demand

"Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal informs that the prices for high quality cabbage continue growing in practically all regions of Russia. At the present moment white cabbage costs up to $0.3-0.42/kg; the demand for this product is still high. It is worth mentioning that the wholesale prices for cabbage were up to $0.22-0.3/kg two weeks ago, when the trend of the further price growth was traced as a result of the reduced cabbage stocks in the farms on the background of the steadily high demand for cabbage.

To the specialists' opinion, the trend of the price growth for cabbage will be observed till the moment of the significant growth of imported cabbage supplies on market. The growth of the imported cabbage supplies can be supported by the Law "About the decreased import tariff rates for vegetables.. " which predetermines the reduction of the import rate from 15% down to 5%. The Law came into effect on the 26th of February 2007.
