Ukraine to stand up for its epizootic security
According to Petro Verbytsky, the head of Veterinary Medicine Department, Veterinary Service is actively preparing for Ukraine's joining WTO.
He stated Wednesday that his Department was concerned about epizootic safety of the country, in particular regarding animals and livestock products imports. The issue is that Ukrainian standard requirements for the products are sometimes higher than worldwide.
"We are ready to revise our legislation in compliance with WTO standards and to make some concessions" - said Petro Verbytsky. If Ukraine, however, wants to reserve some bans, its specialists should substantiate such reservations scientifically. "We won't take any decisions that may weaken our country's epizootic security" - Verbitsky said.
