The prices for quality carrot go up in Ukraine as a result of the demand growth

As of today, the demand for the high-quality carrot has significantly increased in Ukraine. To the opinion of the specialists of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal, just this circumstance let the holders of quality products increase the sales prices.

The specialists observe, the quantity of carrot supplies has been increasing on market this week. However, the fact is that the most part of carrot is of medium and low quality; this product meets a weak demand, as a rule. The thing is, most carrot producers do not have the specialized storages, so that the produce quality rapidly deteriorates especially when the spring is coming. At the present moment the producers supply the remnants of carrots of a predominantly low quality. As a rule, this product is sold out for the minimal prices (as of today for up to $0.1-0.16/kg); the resellers do not always succeed to sell out the planned volumes.

At the same time, the moderate volumes of the quality carrot go on coming from the specialized storages; the resellers are able to increase the sales prices in view of a great demand for this product. At the same time, the resellers are gradually increasing the prices for the carrot exposed to the pre-sale handling (the supermarkets mainly buy this produce). As of today, the general price range for high-quality carrot is $0.24-0.32/kg in Ukraine. The specialists admit the possibility of the further price growth in this segment.
