Blueberry harvest may dramatically decline in Ukraine
According to the evaluations done by the analysts of ""Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal", early May frosts caused the most severe damage in the South-Western regions of Ukraine. Zakarpattya oblast suffered more than other regions: here the harvest of peach, apricot, grape and other fruits has been almost fully lost.
According to the tentative estimations, wild blueberry in the forests of Western Ukraine is seriously injured by the frosts. Ukraine is one of the world largest exporters of wild blueberry: so the expected yield decline may lead to the significant growth of the global prices both for wild and cultivar blueberries. To the opinion of the analysts of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits", the other factor of the possible price growth for blueberry will be the production decrease in Europe in line with the simultaneous demand growth.
