Prices for citrus fruits started declining in Ukraine due to first shipments of newly harvested berries and fruits entering the markets

The specialists of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal, the CIS produce business periodical, inform that the price decline for oranges, lemons, tangerines, grapefruits and bananas is observed in Ukraine. The representatives of the wholesale companies explain this fact by the seasonally declined demand for citrus fruits. At the present moment the consumers more often prefer buying newly harvested fresh berries. The specialists of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal have already informed about the first shipments of sweet cherry and strawberry entering the inner market. The demand for these products remains quite active despite of relatively high prices.

Taking into account these circumstances, the holders of citrus fruits are frequently inclined to reconsider the sales prices downwards; however, they do not forecast the significant price collapse. As a rule, the prices for citrus fruits go down by the beginning of summer and stay steady till fall. National fruits would leave the market by that time, so that the demand for exotic and citrus fruits is sure to grow again in line with the price increase.
