Ukraine: prices for early cabbage continue increasing

The specialists of CIS produce business periodical, "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal, inform about the rapidly growing prices for early cabbage in Ukraine. The specialists explain this circumstance by the shortage of this product supplies on the inner market due to the seasonal factor. The producers from the Southern oblasts and Zakarpattya have practically finished harvesting early cabbage varieties; the growers have not yet started to actively collect medium-early and medium varieties. The sellers responded to the temporary off-season by the growing sales prices. As of today, the demand for cabbage is still high, so that the sellers face no problems selling this product.

In the end of the previous week the major supplies of early white cabbage were sold for $0.46-0.9/kg on the wholesale markets of Ukraine; as of today, the sellers state the prices up to $0.9-1.06/kg.

The market players forecast that the prices for early cabbage varieties will start declining only after the next large-scale supply of this product on market.
