About 4 thousands hectares of vineyards are planned to be planted in Kuban in 2007

Agrarian enterprises of Krasnodarskiy kray plan to establish about 4 thousands hectares of vineyards in 2007. More than 2 thousands ha will be planted in the framework of the local target program "Perennial plantations" for 2006-2010, AgroRu informs.

The Press Service of the Regional Legislative Assembly informed that the report about the implementation of "Perennial plantations" program was presented during the regular plenary meeting of the Assembly deputies.

"As of the beginning of June, the vineyards have been already established on more than 806 hectares", the representative of Press Service informed.

He pointed out that the other activities of the program would go on, the volume of work would be significantly increased. "For example, this year the regional enterprises will allocate almost $ 0.8 mln for the development of horticulture nursery infrastructure in the region; this sum is ten times as large than in the previous years", the Press Service representative stressed.

He added that severe frosts in January 2006 fully killed the vineyards on the acreage of more than 8,500 hectares, that means more than 27% of the total volume. Around $53 mln. were spent to restore the damaged vineyards.
