Russia is one of three world leaders as to the volumes of imported grapefruits

According to information provided by USDA, Russia has occupied the third place as to the volumes of grapefruit import after Japan and European Union. USDA analysts explain the growth of grapefruit import to Russia by a rapid economic development of the country and, as a result, the increased requirements set by the consumers to the quality and assortment of fresh produce. To USDA opinion, the supplies of this fruit to Russia may grow even greater.

CIS produce business periodical, ""Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" weekly", believes that Russia has already been one of the largest importers of fruits and vegetables in the world. The inner production of fruits and vegetables grows slower than import in the country; the local supermarket chains still prefer to trade imported produce.
