USDA analysts explain the growth of grapefruit import to Russia by a rapid economic development of the country and, as a result, the increased requirements set by the consumers to the quality and assortment of fresh produce. To USDA opinion, the supplies of this fruit to Russia may grow even greater.

The inner production of fruits and vegetables grows slower than import in the country; the local supermarket chains still prefer to trade imported produce.
