In 2008 the acreage of drip-irrigated fruits and vegetables will rapidly increase in Ukraine
To the opinion of the analysts of CIS produce business periodical, ""Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" weekly", we should expect the rapid growth of the acreage of fruits and vegetables grown with the application of drip-irrigation systems in Ukraine. The acreage of vegetables grown due to sprinkling technologies may also significantly grow.
The experts of the periodical point out that many farmers-owners of non-irrigated lands have faced serious losses this year after several successive droughty months. Not only the producers of the southern regions suffered; vegetable growers in the central and eastern regions of Ukraine, and sometimes even the producers of the northern regions had hard time too. Right now the producers show the increased interest to the irrigation systems in general and to drip irrigation systems in particular.
It is worth mentioning that the interest to sprinkling also grows because of high temperatures. In the conditions of heat drip irrigation fails to eliminate the air drought, but some vegetable crops are quite vulnerable to it.
