"Vegetable capital of Ukraine" to continue attracting investments to vegetable processing

On July 24th, 2007 Kherson Regional State Administration informed about two new firms, "Organicsystems" and ""Agroliga", to start operating soon in Tsuryupinsk district of Kherson region. These firms focus their activities on the processing of vegetable crops.

So, Kherson region continues defending its title of "Vegetable capital of Ukraine", as it supplies almost one half of all fresh vegetables and a considerable part of the processed vegetable products to the other regions of Ukraine. Also, Kherson region holds its leading position of cucurbit crops producer and high position of fruit producer in Ukraine. The lion's chare of the export of Ukrainian vegetables is allocated for Kherson region.

To the opinion of Andriy Yarmak, the Manager of ""Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" project", the interest of the processors to Kherson region is mostly predetermined by low prices for raw materials in the peak of harvesting season, by a huge number of professional producers and the developed technologies of vegetable production. Nevertheless, the quantity of the processing enterprises has been growing by higher rates than the produce acreage in the region in recent years.
