Early apple supply grows on Ukrainian market, prices decline

The analysts of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" weekly inform, the supply of early apples is much higher this season than a year ago. The experts say, the processing enterprises face no problems to purchase the needed volumes of apples for the production of juice, puree, apple concentrate, jams and other purposes. The purchase prices for apple started declining in many regions this week, as the processors are about to overachieve the plans for early apple purchase.

At the same time, large producers like SANDORA and VITMARK (ТМ "Jaffa") try to keep the purchase prices high - they understand that the situation with late apple is not likely to be so favorable. According to the forecasts of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits", apple production 2007 will just insignificantly increase comparing to the season 2006, despite of the fact that the forecasts sounded much more optimistic just after the apple orchards blooming. At the same time, the deficit for apple in Poland will result in the price growth for dessert apple on the market of Ukraine, so that the producers will have to sell on the fresh market even those apples which they intended to supply for the processing needs.
