Ukraine: The Cheapest Vegetables Are in L'viv

According to analysts of journal of CIS fruit and vegetable business "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" , the lowest wholesale prices for fruits and vegetables are registered in western regions of Ukraine, in particular in L'vovskaya oblast. Experts explain that by the fact that this year condition for vegetable growing are much more favorable here than in central, southern, and eastern oblasts of the country.

For example, now potato prices at the wholesale market "Shuvar" were by 25-30% lower than at the wholesale market "Fermer" in the capital of Ukraine. White cabbage was on average by one third, and cauliflower was by 70% cheaper than in Kyiv. Prices for carrots in L'viv are on average by 38% lower than in Kyiv, and almost twice as low as in Kherson. L'viv farmers sell red beet twice as cheap, and garlic by 30% cheaper.

Note also that onion prices in L'viv even now lower than those in Kherson and Odessa, that is atypical phenomenon as large onion is normally supplied to L'viv from these regions. Even tomato "plum" in L'vivskaya oblast is cheaper than in Lyiv but more expensive than in Kherson oblast. As a whole, prices for southern vegetables (tomato, egg-apple, sweet pepper, etc.) in L'vivskaya oblast are traditionally higher than in southern oblasts of Ukraine.
