Ukraine: There Are More Pears, and Their Prices Are Lower
After the lean 2006 year, fruit production in Ukraine, as analysts of weekly "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" foresee, has increased notably. Thanks to rise in supply, pear prices in Ukraine this season are lower than those last season, and the product assortment has excelled essentially.
According to price monitoring by "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" results, pear prices in 2007 are on average 30-40% lower than those last year. Moreover, analysts expect the pear production in the country to go up by only 10-15% in 2007. However, it will remain much (twice) lower than the potential one.
Note that there are comparatively few intensive pear orchards in Ukraine, and the share of one of the most popular among consumers variety of pears remains respectively low in total consumption.
