Chokeberry to rise in price six fold since the previous year in Poland

Polish trade sources inform, the prices for chokeberry have increased up to $0.88-1.24/kg; this price is 5-6 times as high than a year ago. Even during the peak of active harvesting of chokeberry the prices exceeded $0.7/kg. That was the top record price for several recent years.

The analysts of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" weekly inform, chokeberry is not referred to as a popular berry in Ukraine and Russia. At the same time, Poland and other EU countries use chokeberry in confectionary industry, and also to produce jam, jelly, marmalade, juice, wine, liquor and beverage drinks. Also, chokeberry may be used as a natural colorant for various food products. The berries of chokeberry are rich for vitamin C and anti-oxidants.
