Prices for onion and potato decline in Poland
The informational sponsor of the fourth international conference "Fruits and Vegetables of Ukraine 2007. Meeting New Leader", Ebronisze.pl portal informs that the dramatic decline of onion and potato prices is observed now in Poland.
The prices for potato have declined to the record low level. At the present moment potato is mostly sold for $0.106-0.11/kg. Potato harvesting season is just starting in the country, so that the perspective of the further price decline exists. Justifying the forecasts done by the analysts of "Agrooglyad: Fruits and Vegetables" weekly, potato production may significantly increase this season in Poland.
The prices for onion are still above the record low levels, but they also dynamically decrease. At the present moment the average price for onion is $0.34/kg; the price continues declining in line with the proceeding harvesting of this crop. The forecasts in the beginning of this season told that onion production will increase more sharply than the production of other vegetables in Poland.
We'd like to remind that past year Poland was one of the largest buyers of Ukrainian onion. However, if the rates of the price decline for this product are preserved in Poland, the perspectives of Ukrainian onion exports to this country will be quite doubtful in a new season.
