Ukraine will increase apple concentrate exports - "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" forecasts

The specialists of CIS produce business periodical, "Agrooglyad: Fruits and Vegetables" weekly forecast, Ukraine may increase the exports of apple concentrate to the EU countries in 2007, as our country belongs to the leading producers of apple concentrate in Europe.

To the specialists' opinion, the quantity of the enterprises processing apples into apple concentrate has increased again in Ukraine. The owners actively repurpose the enterprises, which earlier manufactured other foodstuff in the regions where the competition for apples is relatively low. As a result of this factor, and also as a consequence of the increasing apple harvest in Ukraine this season we can expect the production of apple concentrate to increase.

To the opinion of Andriy Yarmak, the Manager of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" project, the prices for apple concentrate remain relatively low in Ukraine. At the same time, the prices for concentrate continue increasing in Poland; the processors have to pay 60-80% more for commercial apple in that country than in Ukraine. According to the tentative information, China, the world largest supplier of apple concentrate, may also face the reduction of apple harvest; this fact will also contribute to the growth of the global prices for apple concentrate.

So, the expert forecasts, Ukrainian producers will increase the exporting shipments of apple concentrate despite of the increasing inner demand for this product needed for the production of juices and juice-containing beverages. In 2006, according to the data of the official statistics, 19,400 tons of apple concentrate were exported from Ukraine; the exports may increase 25-30% in 2007.
