Ukrainian apple exports to Poland have started: only commercial products by now

Trade sources in Poland inform "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" weekly, the supplies of Ukrainian apple as raw material for processing started coming to apple concentrate and juice producing plants in Poland.

To the opinion of the journal analysts, the exports have become possible due to a great difference of the purchase prices for commercial apple in Ukraine and Poland. As of today, Polish processors pay in average $0.41/kg to $0.36/kg; at the same time, Ukrainian "Sandora" has set the maximal purchase price on the level $0.2/kg. This price has been unchanged for more than a month. The resellers purchase apples for $0.06-0.08/kg in average from the inhabitants of Polissya agri-climatic zone of Ukraine.

The purchase prices for commercial apple in Poland have been growing during a long period of time. However, they have stabilized in the recent two weeks exactly due to the increased supplies of imported apple. According to information provided by Polish producers, in addition to Ukrainian apples, there are also raw materials supplied by Slovakia and Hungary on Polish market. We'd like to remind that the analysts of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" forecasted that as a result of early May frosts Poland may become apple net importer in 2007.

The analysts of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" also think that new season will bring a lot of price surprises for all players of apple market (producers, wholesalers, supermarkets, processors); the specialists invite everyone concerned to learn some very interesting results of our surveys of apple market during the fourth international conference "Fruits and Vegetables of Ukraine 2007. Meeting New Leader", to be held on December 4th-6th 2007 on the territory of the National Complex "Expocenter of Ukraine" in Kyiv.
