"Arzamasskiy Pishchevik" launches chips production

Starting from October the 1st "Arzamasskiy Pishchevik" will launch again the drying workshop for vegetable processing, which capacity reaches 2.5 of dried products per day. Chips production (up to 300 kg/day) will start mid October, Sergey Malygin, the Director of Arzamasskiy Pishchevik", informed Vedomosti. Moscow agrofirm "Aelita" purchased this enterprise after it went bankrupt past year. The line for the production of paper - the basis for sanitary-hygienic goods will also be launched here. Alexey Smirnov, the Director of Economic Development Department of Arzamasskiy district is aware about "Aelita"'s plans.

Chips production by "Aelita" is still not large, less than a percent of Russian market, Vladimir Kachaynik, the General Director of "Aelita" says. However, Natalia Sekurtseva, the Analyst of "Nielsen Russia" company points out that potato chips represent one of the most rapidly growing categories of Russian food market. This share increased 19% in value terms and 14% in natural units, Mrs. Sekurtseva observes. The sales in cities with the population more than 10,000 people constituted more than RUR 13.3 billion ($1.33 mln), or over 50.5 mln. kg.
