Greenhouse vegetables continue growing expensive - the prices have already been twice as high than in 2006

The daily monitoring of the wholesale prices conducted by the specialists of CIS produce business periodical "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" weekly in Moscow, Kyiv, Warsaw, Simferopol, Dnepropetrovsk, Gorlovka, Lvov, Lugansk, and Kopani (Kherson region) proves that the prices for greenhouse cucumbers and tomatoes continue increasing despite of the fact that they have already exceeded 2-2.6 times the price levels recorded at the same period of time past year.

To the opinion of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" analysts, the main reason for the price growth was poor harvest of field tomatoes in 2007, and also the earlier finished season of tomato harvesting. Also, the demand for Ukrainian greenhouse products has significantly increased in 2007, according to our earlier forecasts. At the same time, many producers - managers of old and energy-intensive greenhouse complexes reduced the production, because they were daunted by the higher prices for gas. In addition to the increased inner demand for greenhouse vegetables in Ukraine, the increased demand from the side of Russia was also observed. According to evaluations done by "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" analysts, the record shipments will be supplied to that country this year.

You will learn about changes expected in greenhouse business of Ukraine during the fourth international conference "Fruits and Vegetables of Ukraine 2007. Meeting New Leader", to be held on December 4th-6th 2007 on the territory of the National Complex "Expocenter of Ukraine" in Kyiv.
