"Nidan Juices" plans to enter market of baby puree and cereals in 2008
Opened JSC "Nidan" juices plans to enter baby food market, primarily the market of puree and cereals, Arkadiy Kurin, the Director of Marketing and Advertisement Department of the company, informed Agrobel.by on the VI International Forum of Adam Smith Institute "Russian Food Industry" on the 12th of November in Moscow.
He said, the production of baby juices stimulated the producers to master new products. Juice production was launched in October past year. Two million liters, or 10 mln. of packs have been sold during one year, he observed.
Mr. A. Kurin informed that baby food market is one of the most dynamically developing markets - it increases 22% per year. Juices, cereals and puree occupy 80% of this market. He reminded that, for comparison, food market increases 10% per year. Although he refused to reveal the peculiarities of a new direction of company's activities.
Referring to the estimation of Tetra Pak company, A. Kurin informed that the total volume of juice market in Russia will increase up to 3.4 billion liters (compare to 3 billion liters in 2006). The volume will increase up to 4.4 billion liters in 2010. Annual juice consumption in Russia presently amounts to 18-20 liters per capita; in particular, this index reached 50 l in Moscow and 35 l in Saint-Petersburg in 2006. "However, in average we lag behind such countries like USA (40 l) and Canada (49 l)", he observed.
Opened JSC "Nidan Juices" is one of three leaders of Russian market of natural juices and juice products (according to experts' estimations, 17.7% of market). Opened JSC belongs to "Nidan" group of companies and unites all production and sales assets of the holding, including LLC "Nidan-Gross" (Moscow) and LLC "Joint Enterprise Nidan-Ecofruit" (Novosibirsk).
Company's turnover amounted to $270 mln. in 2006 (comparing to $211.8 mln. in 2005).
This August the shareholders of "Nidan Juices" company and British Investment Foundation Lion Capital agreed the Lion to purchase "Nidan Juices".
