Sharp price growth for cabbage is recorded on Russian Federation market

Market players inform the experts of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" project, prices for cabbage continue increasing in European part of Russia.

The market players observe the most dramatic price growth for cabbage in Moscowskaya region. As of today, the minimal price seldom declines lower than $0.44/kg, and maximal price reaches $0.53/kg there. The sellers mention general range of cabbage sales prices to vary within the limits $0.28-0.53/kg in European part of the country. Note that imported products of Belarus origin are sold for the minimal prices; the shipments of these products are few on market.

It is also worth mentioning that some sellers trade cabbage in reserved manner, provoking even more intensive price increase. As a rule, they are owners of specialized vegetable storages who plan to sell main volumes of cabbage later - that's why they are setting sales prices on a rather high level now.

To the opinion of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" specialists, the main reason for the cabbage price to increase is poor cabbage harvest in most regions of Russia. Weather conditions of past year were extremely unfavorable for normal ripening of medium and late cabbage variety. In this regard right now the demand for cabbage has obviously exceeded demand on market. In its turn, this situation let us suppose the prices to further increase in this segment of market.
