Grain price increase will resume after October 10 - government of Ukraine

Ukrainian government forecasts grain price increase, which has lately decelerated, to renew impetus in the period since October 10 till October 20.

Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister Leonid Kozachenko was cited by Interfax-Ukraina as saying at a pres-conference September 26 that increase of grain prices in Ukraine had come to a halt as a result of Russian government's deciding to allocate RUR 6 billion (US$189.3 million) for subsidising grain production in Russia. According to Kozachenko, such a decision of Russian government has led to a drop in competitiveness of Ukrainian grain in the world market.

"At the moment Russian wheat is influencing both price and sales of Ukrainian wheat," Kozachenko said.
