Vladivostok seaport is ready to grain export transhipments
Vladivostok seaport is ready to export transhipments of Russian grain. It is the only port in the Russian Far East, capable of processing drain cargos.
According to press-service of the port, its management is considering a number of innovative projects, including construction of a special-purpose grain elevator for 20,000 to 25,000 of capacity, purchase of new transhipping equipment and introduction of new technologies of export and transit grain transhipment.
In the past Vladivostok port has already performed cabotage grain shipments to Kamchatka region. Shipments have not exceeded 3,000-5,000 tonnes.
Grain transportation through the ports of Far East has become topical following introduction of 50-percent discount rate from grain rail transportation tariff for distances, exceeding 3,000 km with transhipment in Far Eastern ports. A bumper crop in Russia in the two last years has conditioned growth in export volumes of Russian grains, which cannot be entirely managed by ports of European Russia.
