Fruit production to decline 10% in EU in 2007 down to the lowest level in recent years

Fruit production may decline down to 36 mln. tons in EU countries in 2007; this amount is 10% as less than in the previous year. So, it will be one of the seasons with the worst fruit harvest in EU for the recent years. This information is provided by Ebronisze.pl portal, the official informational sponsor of the fourth international conference "Fruits and Vegetables of Ukraine 2007. Meeting New Leader", with the reference to IERiGZ-PIB.

According to information provided by the source, the main reason for such a dramatic decline of fruit production will be the reduced harvest of apples and citrus fruits (oranges, tangerines, lemons) in the EU. The declined fruit harvest has already led to the growth of the average wholesale prices for these fruits. The prices continue increasing. Also, the reduced production of fruits will also result in the significantly decreased volumes of processed fruits - it means that the prices for frozen berries and fruits, juices and juice concentrates and canned fruits will also increase as a consequence of the decreased production.

How will this situation influence Ukrainian fruit market? You will hear the answer to this question from the leading experts of fruit & vegetable business of Ukraine during the fourth international conference "Fruits and Vegetables of Ukraine 2007. Meeting New Leader", which will be held on December 4th-6th 2007 in Kyiv on the territory of the National Complex "Expocenter of Ukraine". We'd like to remind that there are only five days left till the end of registration of the participants of the conference and wholesale-retail center!
