China, Chili, Italy and France remain the largest apple exporters in the world
The volume of the global apple exports amounted to 6.94 mln. tons in 2006, i.e. 0.5% as less than the global exports in 2005 (that was the absolute record of 6.97 mln. tons). This value did not exceed the level of 6.46 mln. tons in 2004, Ebronisze.pl portal informs, the informational sponsor of the fourth international conference "Fruits and Vegetables of Ukraine 2007. The world largest exporters of fresh apple are China, Chili and Italy - they maintain almost one third of the global exports. In 2006 China exported 804,000 tons of apple, Chili - 725,000 tons, and Italy - 713,000 tons. France exported 684,000 tons of fresh apple in 2006, USA - 639,000 tons, Poland - 400,000 tons, New Zealand and SAR - 265,000 tons each.
Ukraine is still a large apple importer; despite of this fact, our country has been actively extending the areas of the modern intensive apple orchards. Russian companies are interested in the supplies of Ukrainian apple now. In some years, to the opinion of the experts of CIS fruit & vegetable business weekly "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits", Ukraine will be able to introduce locally produced apples on the markets of EU countries.
