Ukraine: "borsch" vegetables sharply increased in price

The analysts of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" weekly estimate, the prices for so-called "borsch" vegetables increased approximately twofold comparing to the previous year. The prices for carrot increased more sharply than others - 3.5 times; table beet price increased 2.1 times, cabbage price increased 90%. At the same time, the prices for potato declined 2% comparing to the previous year.

The analysts of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" forecast, the prices for all traditional vegetables, but for potato, will continue increasing in the coming months; as a result, the price difference may become even more significant. This fact may also lead to the extension of carrot, table beet and cabbage cultivation areas as soon as in 2008.
