The question on resumed supplies of Polish vegetables and fruits to Russian Federation has not been solved yet
No decision has been made yet on the resumed supplies of Polish vegetables and fruits to Russian Federation. The ban is not repealed because of different norms of the maximum allowed pesticides content in the plant products according to the legislation of two countries, IA "RIA News" inform.
At the same time, in January 2008 the parties reached an agreement on the resumed imports of flowers, seedlings, fodder, grain and fertilizers, as well as livestock from Poland.
"We hope that this year let us occupy the same high level we had before November 2005. We may possibly extend our presence, these are our ambitions", Andrzej Dycha, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Poland told.
In November 2005 Russia banned the imports of livestock and plant products from Poland. This measure took place because of the facts of re-export of the products of third countries through the territory of Poland, the discrepancy of the accompanying documents to Russian requirements, and also because of the pesticides and heavy metals detected in plant products.
According to the data of the Ministry of Agriculture of Poland, as a result of the embargo exposed in 2005, the exports of livestock and plant products to Russian Federation declined 74% in 2006. The situation improved a little in 2007: the exports increased 5% comparing to 2006 level.
The exports of Polish meat and plant products amounted to EUR 175 mln. in monetary terms in 2005.
