Five large wholesale food complexes to be constructed in Moscow
Five new large wholesale food complexes will be constructed in Moscow till the end of 2010. The Government of Moscow informed, Yuri Luzhkov, the Mayor, signed the respective order "About the municipal target program of the wholesale trade development of food products in Moscow for the period 2008-2010", RBC daily informs.
The complexes will be constructed on Tarniy proyezd, Rudnevo industrial area, in Solntsevo, Kuryanovo and on Dmitrovskoye shosse. The document specifies that the intensified construction of the modern logistics centers is necessary in the conditions of the increasing consumption of food. These centers are to provide the effective system of product supplies to the consumers; it primarily concerns the products which require low-temperature storage mode.
According to the order and on purpose to increase the supplies of the nationally produced food and to consolidate the food safety of Moscow city, the Food Resources Department of the capital will involve large regional agri-industrial holdings to participate in the investment auction of the land plots allocated for the construction of food logistics distribution centers. In the first quarter 2008 the Food Resources Department will develop the proposals concerning the further reduction of the dangerous coolants in the refrigerator supply systems of the enterprises in the wholesale food complex.
The Department of Science and Industrial Policy of Moscow will obtain the finances for the scientific-research and experimental-designing activities worth up to $610,000 in 2009 and up to $650,000 in 2010. These money will be paid for the development of the program of the applied studies and projects for the sake of Moscow city in 2009-2011.
According to the data of Food Resources Department of the capital, the supplies of the major food products have significantly increased in the recent years in Moscow. Past year the city received 36,000 tons of cereals, i.e. 2.8 times as much than 2004. The volumes of meat supplies have increased 1.9 times during three years up to 144,000 tons in 2007. During the same period of time the supplies of vegetables and potato increased 1.7 times up to 222,000 tons past year. Also, 670,000 tons of grain were supplied to the capital in 2007; the increase amounted to 1.4 times comparing to the data of 2004.
