Ukraine: agriculture ministry claims for cancelling preferences for meat importers
Ukraine's Ministry of Agrarian Policy jointly with Ministry of Economy has prepared a bill, banning preferential imports of meet through free economic zones and territories of priority development to equalise working conditions in domestic market for local meat processing plants and meat importers, Deputy State Secretary for the MinAP Yuri Melnik has informed.
He said preferential meat imports could "choke" the industry and bring no earnings to the budget. He said the widespread opinion that price for animal products would spurt up sharply should the preferential imports be cancelled was mistaken.
