Russia: grain purchase interventions results as of Nov 28
In the course of exchange tenders within the framework of ongoing state grain purchase interventions in Russia as of November 26, 2002 the state purchased 30,800 tonnes of milling wheat Class 3 and 59,100 tonnes of milling wheat Class 4, Federal Agency for Food Market Regulation with Russian Ministry of Agriculture has informed.
Over the eleven trading days since November 13 till November 28 the state bought into the intervention fund 505,000 tonnes of milling wheat Class 3, 631,400 tonnes of milling wheat Class 4 and 157,200 tonnes of milling rye Group A. The total amount of the purchased grain was 1,293,600 tonnes. Total value of the purchases was 2,264,200,000 roubles, out of the 6 billion rouble loan, provided by the Savings Bank of Russian Federation.
According to analytical service with Unidell group, the sales of third class milling wheat were registered on two bases only: in Siberia and Tatarstan - Upper Volga. Povolzhye and the Urals were added to the list of traditionally inactive regions in this category - the Centre and the South. Trades in Siberia were fairly active and tender price for 3rd class wheat averaged 2,100 roubles per tonne. This figure is close to that of the previous trades and is quite a beneficial price, being by 300 to 400 roubles higher than the market. In Tatarstan and Upper Volga the trades were calm (without auction haste) - so, the price was close to limit - 2,299 roubles per tonne.
The purchases of 4th class wheat proved quite vivacious, which suggested availability of considerable stocks of this grain. The only exception, as usually, was the Southern region, where not a single transaction was registered for the third consecutive day. As a whole, trading prices for the 4th class grew by 50 roubles per tonne compared to yesterday's level, slightly dropping only in Tatarstan and Povolzhye - down to 1,599 roubles. They prices grew sharply - by 170 to 215 roubles - in the Urals - up to 1,580 roubles per tonne, remained the same, but narrowed in range in Siberia, making 1,400 to 1,410 roubles per tonne, grew by 50 to 70 roubles in Povolzhye and the Centre of Russia - up to 1,723 and 1,799 roubles per tonne correspondingly, which is 300 rouble higher than the market in these two regions.
According to Federal Agency, the purchase tenders are being continued.
