Russian railway ministry extends seasonal discount for grain transportation till the end of March
Russian Railway Minister Mr. Fadeyev told a news conference December 9 that the Ministry had extended the 20 percent seasonal discount from grain transportation tariff till the end of March 2003.
The discount was introduced in mid-September and was supposed to last till January 1, 2003.
Head of Russian agrimarket consultancy SovEcon Mr. Sizov told in an interview that the move had come quite on time. It will permit Russian grain exporters to actively use ports of Ukraine and Baltic states when Russian ports are frozen and will largely facilitate the problem of Russian grain exports in winter months.
