Russia's and Ukraine's transport ministries held joint sitting
Russia's and Ukraine's transport ministry collegiums held joint sitting December 9, devoted to mutual cooperation in transport field.
Russia's Transport Minister Sergey Frank, opening the sitting, said that the main route of Russian cargoes to the countries of Southern and South-Eastern Europe lay through Ukraine and that 45 percent of Russian cargoes, delivered to Ukraine, were transits. Among the main tasks faced by the two countries in transport sphere the minister named reduction of freight transportation costs between the two countries, development of international transport corridors, environmental issues, etc.
Ukrainian Minister of Transport Heorhiy Kyrpa said that Ukraine was the third largest country in Europe in volumes of transit cargoflow and that Russia and Ukraine together were responsible for 90 percent of the freight traffic over CIS countries.
