Russia: pace of vegetables harvesting in Ekaterinburg up the last year

More than a half of crop was harvested on the lands of Ekaterinburg, cutting-service of vice-mayor Victor Konteev reported. Participants of the agrarian sector plan to finish harvesting before the rain season begin, agency EAN reported.

At the moment the farms have harvested 190 ha of potatoes, 37 ha of carrot, 19 ha of cabbage, 46 ha of beet. Gross harvest totals 3.508 tonnes of potatoes, 1.024 ha of carrot, 372 tonnes of cabbage and 1.215 tonnes of beet, up one half of the expected crop.

At the moment , the harvesting campaign is complicated by cold weather and lack of workers for harvesting. Despite all the problems, agrarians noted that paces of the harvesting campaign-2008 is higher than last year.
