Ukraine harvested more than 18 mln. tonnes of potatoes

As of October 1, 2008, 18.7 mln. tonnes of potatoes were harvested in Ukraine that almost corresponds to the level of the last year, the average yield totaled 138 c/ha. As it was reported by the State Committee of Statistics of Ukraine, potatoes are harvested throughout 1.360 ha that is 95.3 % from the level of 2007.

At the same time, the leaders in harvesting are Vinnitsa oblast (1.49 mln tonnes), Chernigov (1.47 mln tonnes), Kiev (1.45 mln tonnes), Lvov and Khmelnitsk (1.26 mln tonnes and 1.2 6 mln tonnes, respectively).

99% from the total volume of potatoes have been harvested by the farms of the population that is18.5 mln. tonnes.
