Ukraine harvested 1 mln. of fruit and berry crops as of October 1

As of October 1, 2008, the farms of Ukraine harvested 1.073 mln. tonnes of fruits and berries, down 1.6% compared to the same date of the last year, reported the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine

In particular, agrarian farms harvested 85.100 tonnes of fruit and berry crops (93.5% as compared to the index of 2007), farms of the rural population harvested 988.000 tonnes (98.9 % as compared to the index of 2007).

Besides, harvesting campaign was completed throughout 144.900 ha, the average yield totaled 74.2 c/ha.

As of October 1, the leaders on fruit and berry harvesting were Dnepropetrovsk and Chmelnitsk oblasts with the gross crop of 145.700 tonnes and 105.400 tonnes, respectively. The farms of Kiev oblast harvested 12.600 tonnes of fruit and berry produce, the farms of Ternopol and Chernigov oblasts – 3.500 tonnes and 14.000 tonnes, respectively.
