Russia: prices for hothouse tomatoes up 15%

According to the information provided by the specialists of Fruit-Inform project, at the moment prices for hothouse tomatoes are up 15 % as compared to the same indices of the last year. Specialists reported that the main reason is high demand for this produce against a background of regular reduce of supply. Low qualitative indices of produce imported from Turkey and Poland is the additional reason. According to market participants, despite comparative stability and sufficient volumes of tomato shipments from Morocco, quality of imported produce is predominantly low. At the moment prices for domestic hothouse tomatoes are declared within a range of 1.47- 2.05 euro/kg, whereas prices for imported produce are declared within a range of 0.88- 1.17 euro/kg depending on transport direction.
