Russia: potato harvest increased by 10% this year

Russia observes increase of potato harvest by 10% this year, declared Tatyana Getman, Editor-in-Chief of the weekly "Agrooglyaf: Fruits and Vegetables" during the Third international conference "Fruit and vegetable business of Russia-2008" on November, 5 in Moscow.

Tatyana Getman also noticed that despite the fact that during mass harvesting there were rains, yield increased by 3%. However, unfavourable weather conditions influenced quality of potato. That is why, the volumes of this vegetable for storage reduced.

The price for potato next year will correspond to the level of 2008.

According to the forecasts of Fruit-Inform project specialist, the areas under potato will reduce.
