Russia: cabbage production up this year

This year Russia harvested more cabbage that a year ago, informed Tatyana Getman, Editor-in-Chief of the weekly "Agrooglyad: Fruits and Vegetables" during the Third international conference "Fruit and vegetable business of Russia-2008" on November, 5 in Moscow.

Thus, according to the data provided by Mrs. Getman, gross crop of cabbage increased by 11% compared with the last year index. At that, the average yield increased by 7-10%.

Also, she noticed that seed companies ddeclare about increase of sales of seeds of cabbage by 50%.

To date, the prices for cabbage decreased by 30% from a year ago, and in April 2009 are forecasted to decrease by 20% more.
