Ukrainian market to be oversaturated with imported fruits

Favourable conditions for work drew lots of new companies to the market. Importers were inspired by attractive purchasing prices - almost all countries-main suppliers of fruits to the market harvested reach crop, that is why purchasing prices are reducing by 5-20%.

Ukraine increased imports by 1/3. At the same time, demand for vitamins reduced, reported the representative OF the Ukrainian Fruit Company.

At the moment, Ukrainians deacresed purchases of fruits by 20 – 30 %, as compared to the same period of the last year. According to market representatives, sale rates decreased twice. Domestic market is saturated with imported fruits by 40 %. The worthiest situation is observed in the citrus segment, which was always characterized by the highest sale rates. According to the official data, 7.500 tonnes of citrus were imported to the country since the beginning of October that is one third up as compared to the last season.

Thus, it will be difficult to sell the whole produce in the short-term period; so many companies had begun to use dumping. At the same time, many companies bear losses. Only sellers of imported grapes, persimmon and pomegranate increased prices by 30 % as compared to the indices of the last year. Sellers forecast that prices will reduce due to low sale rates and short terms of storing.

According to official data, volumes of imported fruits will be reduced by 50 %.

At the same time, no difficulties with sales are observed on exotic fruits market. Sellers increased retail prices by 40 – 50 % and sale rates remained largely stable, but not high.
