Ukraine: great potential of organic agriculture

Ukraine has great opportunities to satisfy domestic market, as well as international markets with organic produce, reported Eugene Milovanov, head of executive committee of Federation of organic movement.

According to LIGABusinessInform, the area for organic produce growing will total 2 mln ha. In this case, Ukraine will be able to take the 5-6 th place in the world by areas under organic crops. At that, Milovanov noted that Ukrainian growers should direct the produce for satisfying of domestic market, but if it is possible to get additional financial resources, it is necessary to export this produce. Also, according to his data, at the moment, proportion of organic produce consumption of domestic and international market totals 99 % to1 %, but nevertheless, this proportion may substantially change to the direction of greater consumption of domestic market.
