Sales volumes of agricultural products in Ukraine in January increased 5 pc

Volumes of sales of agricultural products in Ukraine in January 2003 increased 5 percent compared with January 2002, Ukraine's State Statistics Committee has informed.

Sales of livestock for slaughter in January this year increased 25.4 percent compared with January last year, sales of eggs increased 26.8 percent. At the same time, sales of milk and diary products decreased 12.3 percent.

The Statistics Committee has noted a trend of reduction of barters in agricultural settlements. Specific weight of barters in the whole volume of agricultural products sales decreased from 3.1 percent in January 2002 to 1.4 percent in January 2003.

Average selling prices for agricultural products decreased 10 percent from January 2002. The prices for products of crop farming increased 5 percent, those for animal breeding products - decreased 16 percent.
