A deputy suggested zero customs fee for pea seeds imports to Ukraine
A bill was registered in Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada on February 19, stipulating introduction of zero customs fee for imports into Ukraine of pea seeds. The bill was submitted be a People's Deputy Tereshchuk.
He thinks that Ukraine's budget will suffer no losses from the measure, but instead the pea seeds will become competitive in the seeds market of Ukraine.
Over the past two years 287,600 tonnes of pea seeds have been imported to Ukraine, produced by major breeding companies of Austria, Canada, Germany, Poland, France, Czech Republic, for a total value of US$165,000. The customs fee has brought to the budget 172,000 euros. Cancellation of the customs fee will allow importing annually some 3,000 tonnes of pea seeds of the best sort-breeding companies, the deputy thinks.
