Ukraine's agriculture ministry declared grain mortgage purchases state agent competition

Ukraine's Ministry of Agrarian Policy declared competition to determine state agent for mortgage purchases of grain, government's official newspaper "Uriadovyi Kurier" informed February 25. The tender is to be held on March 18.

According to the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers, eligibility requirement to participate in the competition is that the share of state in the statutory fund of the aplicant should be no less than 75 percent. The criteria of competitive selection are financial and economic performances of the competitive proposal - better quality and tariff conditions of reception, storage, insurance of grain, larger potential volumes of grain that could be attracted into grain stores, larger volumes of banking loans available, etc.

Applications for competition are admitted till March 11.

In 2003 the government plans, using the state agent, to buy into mortgage fund some 1.5 to 2 million tonnes of new crop grain at a mortgage price about 400 hryvnias ($75) per tonne.
