Russia: potatoes and vegetables to be sold at social prices in Moscow
As head of Moscow Food Stocks Department report nearly 9000 tonnes of potatoes and vegetables will be supplied to the retail chains of Moscow at prices lower that market price. This decision was made due to seasonal price increase for potatoes and vegetables that was recorded on the market.
According to data of Moscow Food Stocks Department, during January-February of 2008 price for potatoes and vegetables increased by 15 % and during January-February of the current year this index increased by 11 %. At the moment Moscow government plans to replenish food stocks purchasing early potatoes for selling at social prices.
