Criminal case instituted against Ukraine's ex-Deputy Prime Minister for Agriculture L.Kozachenko
General Procurator's Office of Ukraine instituted criminal proceedings against former Deputy Prime Minister for Agriculture Leonid Kozachenko on the facts of malversations resulting in grave consequences and avoidance from payment of taxes in extremely large scales, Press-Secretary for the General Procurator of Ukraine Polina Bashkina informed on Monday.
She said that the articles of Criminal Code, corresponding to the above accusations, stipulated imprisonment for the term of 5 to 8 years the first, and 5 to 10 years the second.
Leonid Kozachenko, born 1955, held the position of Deputy Prime Ministry for Agrarian and Industrial Complex of Ukraine from June 9 to November 26, 2002. Before that he during 8 years headed the Ukrainian League of Entrepreneurs and Industrialists in Agrarian and Industrial Complex. From 1999 he also headed Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation. Earlier he worked during 18 years in Ukrainian agriculture, starting from head-worker in a farm mechanisation unit, head of a farm. Then acquired a managerial position in the Ministry of Agriculture.
