Squall-like wind damaged farming in Crimea
The squall-like wind, which was raging on the Crimean Peninsula on April 19-21, damaged farming in some locations, Crimean Minister of Agriculture Anatoly Drobotov told the meeting of Crimean government.
He said on some farms of the steppe zone the wind had damaged upper layer of agricultural soil, partially destroyed root systems of the plants. In several places beds of irrigation canals were strewed with earth, brought by the squalls. On one coastal farm, water of the Sivash Bay, driven by the wind, flooded fields. The size of the damage is being now calculated.
